Frequently Asked Questions
"Do you take commissions?"
"Can I come by and look at your studio?"
"I've got some old junk -- do you want it?"
"Could you make something for my charitable organization's auction?"
"I love the moth on the Luna Lola sign. Could you make something for my store's sign?
"Your sculptures are really expensive. Can you sell me the one I really like for really cheap?"
"Can I interview you for an article?"
"Do you know you're actually pretty lousy at welding?"
- Maybe, but so far . . . not really. The couple of times I considered it I quickly learned that I wasn't having any fun tying to figure out what someone else might like. That doesn't mean it will never happen, though: I'm always open to listening to interesting ideas. If you'd like to talk about a commission, please send me an email ([email protected]) if you're still interested after reading my commission policy.
"Can I come by and look at your studio?"
- Maybe, but prepare to be under-whelmed. It's just a half of a garage that I share with rats, dirt, and vines.
"I've got some old junk -- do you want it?"
- Maybe, depending on what it is. I don't have a lot of space to store materials, so I have to be somewhat choosy. I mostly work in ferrous metal -- if a magnet sticks to it I might be interested. I'm pretty bad about making trips to pick stuff up.
"Could you make something for my charitable organization's auction?"
- Maybe, depending on the time frame, the scope, and the cause. Unfortunately there are far more good causes out there than I have time to contribute to. I don't have near as much time to work as I'd like and every piece I made takes something out of me and takes away from my other responsibilities and my family, so I need to think carefully before saying "yes."
"I love the moth on the Luna Lola sign. Could you make something for my store's sign?
- Maybe (see "Do you take commissions?").
"Your sculptures are really expensive. Can you sell me the one I really like for really cheap?"
- Probably not (see "Could you make something for my charitable organization's auction?"). I don't mass produce things . Each piece means something to me and the prices are set at what it takes for me to let something go. If you really want a piece of the Zero Point Mechanic action, I would love to sell you a signed print ($10) or a sticker ($2) at my Etsy shop!
"Can I interview you for an article?"
- Maybe! I've answered the "how long have you been doing this," "what got you started," and "what inspires you" questions several times now. Please read through some of the existing articles (links here) and see if you have something new to ask!
"Do you know you're actually pretty lousy at welding?"
- Yes, I am aware.
